Carlton & United Breweries was formed in 1907, an amalgamation of Melbourne's six largest breweries at the time - McCracken's, Victoria, Carlton, Shamrock, Castlemaine and Foster breweries.
In 1983, CUB was acquired by Elders IXL, a giant Australian diversified conglomerate. In 1990, Elders remamed its brewing operations The Foster's Group. CUB operates under the Foster's umbrella today.
