Extra info The first brewery in Tampere was founded by the pharmacist A.W. Tennberg in 1854 in the Black Gulf Näsijärvi. This was followed by a number of breweries but they were all old-fashioned and small in size. In 1897, the Osakeyhtiö Pyynikki was established when the various beer breweries merged their operations.
The new company built a new brewery Kaakinmaa in the area's brick streets and Papin street corner in downtown Tampere. The choice of site was affected, above all, that the brewery site was very clean freshwater wells where the water used by the brewery could be taken.
In the early 1900s in Tampere, the six breweries whose owners had four companies Näsijärvi share-Beer Factory, Tammela Square situated along the Great Beer Factory, Inc. Pyynikki, Tampere Brewing Company which owned the small breweries Black Lahti, Fishing cape and Santa Lahti. When the social prohibition came into force in Tampere in 1903, these beer factories merged to become the Näsijärven Osake-Oluttehdas
The Prohibition Act entered into force in 1919, the brewery focused on mild beers, heed beer, lemonades, mineral waters and mead making. The company changed its name to Pyynikki Oy Ab 1921. In 1922, the majority of the company shares were acquired by the factory of Sulo Salmelin.
In 1985, the company was sold to Sinebrychoff. Pyynikki brewery ceased operations in 1992 when the Sinebrychoff stopped the production of beer in the Kerava brewery.
