Extra info In 1896, there were celebrations as crystal-clear water springs up from deep down below Löhnberg castle. A first well is built, and named Selters-Sprudel-Augusta-Victoria in honor of the wife of the last German Kaiser.
OnMay 16, 1897, there was a liquidation of the founding company and establishment of a new company named Selters-Sprudel Augusta Victoria G.m.b.H zu Selters an der Lahn.
In Spring 1898. the company opened the first bottling and dispatching plant, which is still the headquarters of the company today.?In 1902 there were major changes to the company structure and a considerable expansion of activities. As a result, Selters Sprudel Augusta Victoria GmbH regards July 28, 1902 as its official date of reformation. The first carbonation plant was built the same year.
From 1903, the company starts developing in earnest. Well over 50,000 bottles of mineral water are produced every day. A triple rail track connection is available. At least 7 wagons can be loaded and unloaded simultaneously at 7 different loading bays.
From 1914 – 1918. thanks to circumspect management and solid relations with the restaurateurs’ associations, the company survives the first world war not unscathed, but without its existence being jeopardized.
•1922 – 1945?The company purchases its first chain-driven, rubber-tired van, which provides sterling service as problems with rail transport arise. Many technical improvements at the carbonation and bottling plants followed.?Downturn in sales due to the economic crisis in Germany. In 1933, the company was unable to issue dividends for the first time in its existence. From then on, things improved until 1945 and the end of World War 2.
•From 1950?
480% increase in production between 1950 and 1964. To this day, Selters mineral water is an important part of the economy in the Oberlahn region.
•1952?
The 50th anniversary of “Selters-Sprudel Augusta Victoria GmbH” in 1952 brings congratulations from renowned industrialists and politicians.
•1959
?The company now employs 200 staff and produces nearly 30 million bottles a year. The following years are marked by varying degrees of success and frequent changes of management.
•01.03.1975
Selters is taken over by the Binding brewery from Frankfurt (part of the Oetker Group). Selters was able to hand over an intact and productive plant, with all its staff.
