| | | | | | | | Extra info | Founded in 1915. Taken over by Bierbrouwerij de Drie Hoefijzers in 1949. In 1968, again due to financial problems, the Drie Hoefijzers brewery was taken over by the British brewing group Allied Breweries Limited. In October 1980, the brewery group decided to reopen the brewery in Arcen.
The brewery continued under the name Arcense Stoombierbrouwerij and from 1981, brewed again, this time only beers top-fermentation . History repeats itself, and on October 29, 1992 the Arcense brewery is annexed by the United Breweries Breda-Rotterdam / Allied Breweries Netherlands, whose name will be changed from April 5, 1993 in Oranjeboom brewery . In turn, this brewery was taken over in 1995 by the then Interbrew Netherlands (now belonging to the AB InBev group). In 1998 the name of the brewery changes of 'Arcense Stoombierbrouwerij to Hertog Jan Brewery.
Hertog Jan was named after the 13th century Duke John I of Brabant which, allegedly, Party held where the beer flowed freely. |
