Originally, it was fermented beer brewed, but the transition to the strongly growing popularity 'Beijers (bottom-fermented) beer was already made. The beer brewed had an alcohol content of 3 to 4 percent. The required malt was processed in its own malt house. Bavarian required hop was involved. This was delivered in barrels.
The Star was very progressive: people used the first company in Duiven already a truck to replace horse-drawn carriage in 1925. Originally the beer to customers was delivered in wooden barrels (called hogsheads) that were made in-house with hot tar close. Later, it was switched to bracket bottles from 3/4 to 1 liter.
In the brewery worked during the course of the years, eight to twelve staff. The brewery business was terminated in 1924. It was then bottler with a contract from Heineken. The vessels of one hundred liters and later crates were Rotterdam, rail, fed to pigeons. In addition, soft drinks and mineral water bottled under its own brand. Bottling was about ended in 1933; the company was transformed into an agency of Heineken and thus liquor for the region.
World War II also went to Pigeons over: located on the Rhine Railway, which was repeated target for Allied bombing, was at one time with no landings possible. The company also came to a standstill. The postwar start was difficult because of lack everything.
In 1965, the brewery building was demolished. Around 1980/1981 the company - which was now owned by Heineken - merged with liquor van Uhm. This was the Amstel wholesaler for the region's Didam-Heerenberg. Hence Otten took leave of his company.
The brewery was originally named Brouwerij C.C.G. Otten. Later, the name was changed to Stoombierbrouwerij De Star.
