| | | | | Extra info | Grain Dealer Emmanuel Slaghmuylder founded in 1860 a brewery in St George Street in historic downtown. stood on the wooden barrels "ES" from which the family tradition arose that the children in the family were devised with a name that began with an E.
In 1884, his son Ernest Slaghmuylder (1853-1921) over the company. He was married to Marie Van Roy (1867-1957), who was the eldest sister of Mayor and brewer Raymond Roy (1885-1951) from Wieze ; and the sister of Arthur Van Roy (1870-1952) one of the co-founders of Palm Breweries in Steenhuffel .
After the death of Ernest built a new brewery in 1924-1925 along the Denderhoutembaan, on the outskirts, where she is based today. The land on which the brewery was built, formerly belonged to the abbey of Ninove . This provided enough space for the production of bottom-fermented beers: lager Battle Lager has been brewed here since 1926. Ernest's sons Emile Edmond Edouard and founded together with their mother in 1932, limited liability company Brewery Slaghmuylder on.
During the Second World War was switched to high fermentation beers because of energy issues. So it took until 1958 before they returned to the lager began to brew, plus the beer Helles ( export ) and table-Hell. The brewery has several pubs in and around Ninove owned, so they could assure themselves of increasing sales.
In the sixties of the twentieth century, the fourth generation Slaghmuylders took the helm of Philippe (son of Emile), Everard (son of Edouard) and Michel (son of Edmond), responsible for the brewing process.
