Extra info The Megara Vineyards Cooperative was founded in 1908 and is the first cooperative established in Greece. In 1922 the first Cooperative Winery was founded in Pachi Megara, where all local production was received, processed and distributed. Very quickly the wines of Megara become famous not only in Greece but also abroad. From Pachi port are loaded with bulk wine for European markets mainly France, England and Germany.
The Megara vineyard extends from the foot of Mount Gerania and rises to an altitude of about 350 meters
In the 1960s, with the emergence of phylloxera in the vineyards, extensive replanting and replanting took place. The main varieties in the region are the famous Rhodian Megara and the Savatiano from white and the black (mandillary) from the red.
In the same decade, the cooperative was branded in bottled products. Gerania wines are quickly becoming popular with the public.
