| | | | | | Extra info | The Star Mineral Water, renamed Les Eaux minérale Étoile in 1930, was an institution in Sainte-Geneviève-de-Batiscan. The company bottled water from 1850 until 1980, when the company closed.
From 1850 to 1890, the company bottled spring water that it perfumed in different flavors. In 1890, the owners wanted to find a new source to stock up and discovered a source of sparkling water. The Veillette family therefore operated Star Mineral Water until 1930, when the company was bought by Octave Massicotte. It is the latter who chose to francize the name of the company. But even today, Genevièvois systematically speak of the Star liqueur, which had a reputation throughout the region.
The sons of Octave Massicotte took over the company in 1938. Gérard Massicotte was a delivery man for 50 years, until it closed in 1980. His brother Grégoire for his part developed the market in the counties of Champlain, Saint-Maurice , Portneuf and even on the south shore. |
