| | | | | Extra info | In 1914, Hero, a canned foods factory run by two Swiss men, Henkell and Roth, entered into collaboration with Mr Jansen's fruit and vegetable business in Breda. The new company was established in Breda and on Wednesday, 22 July of that same year, N.V. Hero Conserven Breda was born. The company produced fruit pulp and jam, mostly from strawberries, raspberries and berries. Hero quickly earned a name for itself through its excellent quality and broad product range.
In the 1930s, Hero began producing soft drinks. Hero Perl was the name of the first product, a slightly carbonated apple-flavoured soft drink. This was quickly followed by even greater successes: Hero Sinas, Hero Cassis and Hero Cerise.
In the late 80s, Hero made a number of strategic takeovers, including De Betuwe in 1987 and Herschi in 1998 |
