Brewer/bottler #2223 | | Name | Embotelladora La Mariposa, SA |
| | | | | | | | Extra info | In 1885, in the government of President Justo Rufino Barrios, Enrique Castillo Córdova formally founded Fábrica de Bebidas Gaseosas La Centro Americana, which in those days competed with half a dozen small artisan industries. Upon the death of Enrique Andrés Castillo Córdova, in 1934, La Centro Americana continued its growth through a company called La Mariposa, which had started years before as a small ice and ice cream factory.
However, far from dedicating themselves to ice and ice cream, the brothers Enrique, Óscar, Roberto and Jorge Castillo Valenzuela turned the company into what would later become Embotelladora La Mariposa.
One of the most notable events was the agreement with Pepsi Cola International to market that brand in Guatemala, which took place on June 7, 1941.
In 1987, La Mariposa changed its name to Corporación Mariposa, as its business had expanded. The name of CBC is an abbreviation of Cabcorp, which means "Central American Beverage Corporation", which was adopted to identify the businesses that the Corporation began to have abroad. |
