Extra info The brewery started out as the Fort Frances Brewery in 1925, became Beck's in 1964 and remained in business throughout the 1960's. It couldn't compete with the Doran's Brewing Company and went out of business and the plant was demolished in 1975.

Opened for business after prohibition was lifted in Ontario in 1925 and they continued on until a buyout in approximately 1960. It was one of a handful of breweries that also bottled soda beverages.
Fort Frances Brewery was created by Ernest Prentiss in september 1925, and was assisted by Eugene Shaer who ranked as one of the best of America’s brew masters. It was financed largely by the financial men of Fort Frances. The excellent quality of their product became widely known along with their slogan “The beer without a peer”. Columbine Pilsener Style, and Forty Nine Canadian Lager were very popular. The brewery remained open until 1959, and was shut down for over a year until William A. Beck purchased the brewery in 1960. In March 1964, Fort Frances Brewery was renamed Beck's Brewery Company Limited, and in the same month , negotiations were entered into for the purchase by Ethnic Breweries Limited of Beck Brewing Company Limited, and the transfer of its operations to Brampton , Ontario. Ethnic Breweries Limited was incorporated in February , 1964 in Brampton, Ontario. The old Fort Frances building was partially destroyed by fire and torn down in 1975.

In June of 1960, the Fort Frances Brewery was expected to start brewing Beck's beer, a new product in the renovated plant under brewmaster William A. Beck. Having apprenticed as a brewer in Germany, Beck had 46 years of experience throughout the world and had spent the last 11 years in Columbia, South America. Beck took over the brewery in Fort Frances after it had been closed for a year.

Ethnic Breweries Limited was incorporated in February , 1964 , for the purpose of operating a brewery in Ontario . In March , 1964 , the name of Fort Frances Brewing Company Limited was changed to Beck Brewing Company Limited.
