Kimball Wentworth of the North Parish established the Granite State Spring Water Company (incoproated in 1909) in Atkinson Depot, Plaistow near the present Holy Angels Church. The company motto was "And the Indians came here for pure water." Prodcucts included Hi-Brow and Old Hamshire sodas and Hapshire Table Syrup. The company name changed to Granite Spring Water Company in 1926. The plant became part of Old Hampshire Inc. in 1928.
It was run by the C. Leary Co. from around 1940 and eventually became a 7-Up bottling plant which operated through the early 1970s. |
