Extra info Knowing the virtues and fame of mineral waters, Mr. Jose Maria Garci Crespo de la Vega and Carlos Silva, founded in June 1928 the company,Manantiales de Tehuacán, S.A. whose objective was to bottle and distribute mineral water in Mexico. In November 1937, the company changed its name to Manantiales Garci Crespo, S.A and two years later opened the first distributor in the Valley of Mexico.
In 1948, Mr. Garci Crespo leaves the society and its output decides to change the company name to "Manantiales Peñafiel, SA". This name comes from the rock or rock that hinders the undercurrents, and leads to the springs. In Tehuacan, Puebla, this rock has brought forth water for many years while remaining true and unchanging, therefore the name Peñafiel was proposed.
In 1980 the company was acquired by the Valores Industriales, S.A group, which reorganizes its structure and readjusting their systems work. Years later, in 1992, the creator of the first carbonated beverage, Cadbury Schweppes, the British group identifies and acquires its value. With this process, Manantiales Peñafiel takes the name of Cadbury Schweppes Bebidas Mexico.
The continued growth of the group was based on fixed asset investment, key acquisitions and partnerships with other companies, which has helped to develop strategies thereof. To mention some acquisitions: in 1993, A & W®, Squirt® and Vernor's®; in 1995, Crystal Light®, Orange Crush®, Dr Pepper® and 7up®, which form our extensive list of brands.
On May 7, 2008, Cadbury Schweppes announced the separation of the business of drinks and confectionery. With this process, the company takes the name of Dr Pepper Snapple Group (DPSG) and becomes a public company.
