Family business, founded in 1889, turned, first to Lesquin for the brewery, and Ronchin for the malt house. Then Ronchin for everyone after the First World War and the destruction of the buildings in Los Angeles. The generations succeeded one another, carrying the fame of Choteau well beyond the limits of the commune.
Known under the name of Loup d'Alsace, then Choteau, then Nord Boissons, the company has prospered for decades. The malt left for Champigneul to be transformed into beers, which was then transported by white trucks leaving the Ronchinois site. In 1971, the Ets Choteau alone distributed some 12 million bottles of all the major national mineral water brands and to complete this activity "Loup d'Alsace" operated its own source in Saint Amand les Eaux under the brand Amanda which represented no less than 18 million bottles per year for natural and carbonated waters and lemonades and sodas.
Lucien Choteau died in 1978, but he had made his dream come true. he had bought the Brasserie Moderne de Lille. He had always wanted to brew beer. Since then, the beautiful story of the Choteau family has continued, but far from the malt house which has disappeared. In the 1970s, the brand was acquired by the Hanus et Cie et Pelforth |
