Extra info The history of Brasserie Fischer (or Brasserie du Pêcheur) began in 1821 when John Fischer created the Brasserie de l'Ours Blanc in Strasbourg . It becomes the Brasserie Fischer in honor of its founder in 1840 . From 1850 , the brewery sends a daily beer train towards Paris . It is transferred to Schiltigheim , City Brewers in 1854 .
From the beginning of the twentieth century, Fischer bought several small breweries in the region: Brasserie de la Hache in Schiltigheim in 1903 , the Brasserie de l'Aigle Surbourg in 1904, Brasserie du Rhin in Schiltigheim in 1905, Brasseries Nico in Colmar, Amos Wasselonne and St. Louis in 1906 and the Brasserie de la Ville de Paris in Schiltigheim in 1914. In 1910 , produces 165,000 hectoliters. Malthouse, symbol of the brewery was built in 1912 .
When the Alsace became French after the First World War, the brewery created the Fisherman Beer (Fischer meaning fisherman in Alsatian).
In 1922 , the Fischer Brewery acquires Brasserie Adelshoffen also based in Schiltigheim.
The famous Fischermannele, little man sitting on a barrel and a beer, appears for the first time in 1925 (or 1930 according to other sources ) at the launch of the Gold Fischer (Fischer Tradition today ). It became the emblem of the brewery in 1934 .
La Société Brasserie Fischer is established in 1955 . In 1959 , the Gruber Brasserie Strasbourg- Koenigshoffen was bought by Fischer. La Brasserie Gruber is closed in 1965. A new brewhouse was built in 1959 . In 1989 , the Bière du Pêcheur is the first beer sold by Minitel . Brasserie Fischer launches Desperados in 1995 .
Beginning in 1996 , Heineken became majority shareholder of Fischer-Adelshoffen group. Since the announcement of the takeover, the Schilikois and employees of the Fischer-Adelshoffen group expressed their concerns about the future of both breweries .
Brasserie Fischer had a rail spur connected to the Strasbourg line Lauterbourg , used until the late 1990 and he is still part of the Branching rails street. Brewery Adelshoffen is closed in July 2000 . The production thereof is then transferred to the Fischer site.
During an extraordinary works council of 30 May 2008 , the Heineken group announced the planned closure of the brewery current 2009 . Its production will be transferred between the Brasserie de l'Espérance , also located in Schiltigheim , and Brasserie du Pelican of Mons-en-Barœul . Brasserie Fischer will summarize more then just a simple logo.
In 2008 the brewery produced 600,000 hectoliters of beer and employed 130 people . It ceased operations in the fall of 2009 , part of his equipment was transferred to the Brasserie de l'Espérance .
The Fischerstub, traditional restaurant next to the old brewery is still open today.


Absorbed by Heineken in 1996. Ceased brewing in 2009.
