| | | | | Extra info | Roman Brewery is a family Belgian brewery founded by Joos Roman in 1545 and located in the East Flemish village Mater , district of the city of Oudenaarde . In the year 1545 there was there, along the trade route between Germany and France, a hostelry. Owner of the "Clocke" Joos was Roman, the bailiff of the region and "pater familias" of the brewer gender Roman. Since then 12 generations the sideline of then grow into a thriving business. The company experienced a remarkable heyday during the interwar period with its Roman Oudenaards brown beer (since 2003: Adriaen Brouwer) and came after the Second World War, back with the successful Romy Pils . Thus, it took until 1954 before the brewery expanded its product range with soft drinks and water. In the 80s of 20th century, the company stepped in with the trend to produce special beers. The first was Sloeber (1983), a comparable beer with Duvel . In the 90s of 20th century followed a series of abbey beers "Enameling" and "Mater white beer, a cloudy wheat beer. Later also followed "Black Hole" (2005), "Adriaen Brouwer Dark Gold" (2008) and "Gentse Strop '(2012). Since 2013 there is also an annual Christmas beer on the market, "Adriaen Brouwer Winter Gold '. The current managers are Carlo and Lode Roman (14th generation). |
