The story started when Frederick Moneaux O'Neil and brother Thomas began their first soft drink home delivery business in Melbourne.
Trading under the name of O’Neil Brothers Soft Drinks, they established the manufacturing and distribution at 9 Woodside Street, Fitzroy North. They had a simple marketing strategy: to produce quality drinks. Eventually, they developed a wide range of drinks with a large clientele in the surrounding districts, delivered door-to-door by horse and cart.
At some point after the Cork era. It moved its production facilities to Thomastown in Victoria
With the popularity of their quality drinks, they were able to expand to include all the metropolitan suburbs. Their home delivery service became a household favorite which also included many hotels. In 1930, a change of name was considered and Slade being one of Frederick’s Christian names was selected to carry on the family name. |
