| | | | | | | | Extra info | The Andwandter brewery was founded in 1851 by Karl Anwandter a year after his arrival in Valdivia. It was given the name, Anwandter Hnos. y Cía in 1853 In 1905, the company changed the corporate name to Compañía Cervecera de Valdivia.
In 1916, the Anwandter family agreed to sell the company to the CCU (Compañía de Cervecerías Unidas) which managed to keep the factory running until 1960, when the earthquake destroyed much of the facility. This fact, coupled with the severe depression that fell Valdivia from that point, probably forced the CCU to close the plant.
