| | | | | | | | Extra info | Simon Brewery was founded in 1824 by Georges Pauly, a tanner by trade and married to Anne Catherine Simon. He served previously in a request on August 5, 1824 by the aldermen from Wiltz to obtain permission to build a brewery on his land along the river Wiltz. The license was granted by the Provincial Council of States in the Grand Duchy on 24 September 1824. 14 years later Pauly's family left the brewery. It was only in 1891 that Charles Mathieu and Jules Simon bought the brewery at public auction for a price of only 45,000 francs.
In 1906, Charles Mathieu left the company and Jules Simon became the sole owner. His son, Joseph, Simon, deputy mayor of the town of Wiltz, joined in 1938 in the company and managed it until 1954 his only daughter Jacqueline Fontaine took over the leadership.
In 1972, the company invested in a new building with facilities for bottling. In 1975 Jacques Fontaine, the son of Jacqueline Simon,took over the plant. In 2003, management went to his daughter Betty Fontaine to be co-owner alongside her father. On May 1, 2004, the brewery switches to natural gas for heating the water. On January 1, 2006 Simon Brewery consists of three parts with a total capital of 1.30 million and a turnover of 2.5 million euros.
On April 1, 2006 Simon Brewing Co. is sole shareholder of the company "Ourdaller Brauerei". After this, the operation of beers on site Ourdaller Cornelyshaff resumed. |
