Extra info Founded in 1853 by the German Henry Kremer, the brewery was established in Petrópolis for the production of Bohemia beer in 1859, when it was handmade in small quantities. At the time of its founding, Bohemia had preserved the characteristics of German beers of the time, with an initial production of six thousand bottles per month. The product was distributed through carriages, carts pulled by animals etc., and sales were made directly. Later, sales began to be made through resellers in the region of Petropolis in Rio de Janeiro. When Kremer died in 1865,, the company went to his heirs, who renamed it Augusto Kremer & Cia. Shortly after a decade with the separation of partners, the company was in the hands of Frederick William Lindscheid . After mismanagement by the heirs, the company of broke the record production in 1883 producing 1 million bottles a year and, from there, began the growth in consumption of this product in Brazil.
With the control in the hands of Frederick, the company changed its name to Imperial Fábrica de Cerveja Nacional (Imperial National Beer Factory), and with his death in 1898, his daughter was married to Herique Kremer Jr., the grandson of the company founder, created the Companhia Cervejaria Bohemia.
In 1960 the company was bought by Companhia Antarctica Paulista, with production at the time of ten thousand dozen per month. The company is currently part of Anheuser–Busch InBev'
In 2002, it launched the bohemian dark beer Schwarzbier type using rare malt imported from Munich. The difference is a single color, a special taste, softer, engaging and a velvety foam, full-bodied and creamy.
In 2003, it launched the Bohemian weiss. Was also launched bohemia royall ale, a beer with recipe English, high fermentation and high alcohol content (6%), resulting in a full-bodied and strong taste. In 2005, it launched the Bohemian Brotherhood, an abbey beer.

Bohemia is the oldest Brazilian beer that is still being produced.
