Extra info Founded in 1912; merged with LA Vizcaína S.A in 1934 to form Cerveceras Norte y Vizcaína (C. N. y V.) and produced the brand, Oro y Norte.
In the 1940s the company established a branch in the city of Burgos, which was located on Calle San Juan, No. 23. From 1958 to the late 1960's, the plant produced two brands of carbonated drinks (orange flavor and lemon flavor) with the trade name, Okey.
In 1967 the company established a factory in Valencia, specifically in El Puig. Starting in 1967, the factory in Valencia produced the beer "Trinkal" golden type, whose initial production had been in the factory "La Vizcaína" in Iturrigorri in 1932. This factory was sold to Valencia Damm in 1981, and today there is still a factory in El Puig.
In 1975, the company was absorbed by Santander SA to create "La Unión Cervecera. In the 1980s, the Spanish brewing industry underwent a series of changes that conditioned the survival of local brewers. The concentration of breweries in large groups made in 1991 "Unión Cervecera" became part of Cruzcampo, which closed the factory in Bilbao two years later. With the closing of "La Cervecera del Norte" and its subsequent demolition between 1995 and 2003 to build homes and a clinic, not only did the last Bilbao brewery disappear, but also the last testimony of industrial architecture of the town brewery.
