WILLIAM EDWARD RUMMING, SON OF CHARLES RUMMING, CONTINUED THE BOTTLING BUSINESS, LISTED AS PIONEER CARBONATING WORKS. THIS PLANT RAN UNTIL 1928. AT THIS TIME, THE NAME BECAME RUMMING BOTTLING WORKS. THEY ALSO HAD DEPOTS AT LADYSMITH, PORT ALBERNI AND COURTENAY. IN 1944, WILLIAM RETIRED, AND THE COMPANY BECAME RUMMINGS LIMITED. THIS COMPANY RAN UNTIL 1954. FROM 1904-1910, W.E. & C.H. RUMMING, OPERATED A BOTTLING PLANT IN LADYSMITH, B.C. FROM 1911-1914, IT WAS LISTED AS PIONEER BOTTLING WORKS. Rumming was Nanaimo's longest running soda bottler family.
New owners took over in 1953 renaming it Island Bottling Company Limited and moving after one year to a new plant. |
