In 1893 the De Giacomi family, the industrial brewers of Chiavenna, found the small brewery created by Ottavio Guglielmo Kieffer in the middle of the nineteenth century to the bankruptcy court. In 1887 the brewery founded by Ottavio Guglielmo had passed to his son Emilio, who together with the entrepreneur Gino Del Moro had founded the Society Kieffer-Del Moro.
After the purchase, factory director Giuseppe De Giacomi expanded and modernized the brewery by launching the Birra Livorno brand on the national market.
In the thirties of the twentieth century it reached production of 25,000 hectoliters and increased its presence in the market of Italian East Africa.
In 1937, the Beer Company Peroni began to become interested in the Beer Livorno, whose market shares were rising mainly in Tuscany. In 1939 he finally acquired the plant.
Until 1942 beer production was not affected by war events. On April 10, 1943, with ministerial decree, the sale to civilians was stopped and production was diverted to the German armed forces.
Between May and June 1944, the industry was bombarded by the Allies and underwent massive damage by blocking production. In April 1946, production resumed.
In 1979 ceased production of beer and remained only the packaging plant. In 1984 also closed as a deposit.
In the following years, the historic brewery factory, located in the heart of the nineteenth-century Livorno, was laid on the ground to give way to a large building complex.
