Extra info The tradition of beer and malt production in the Trnava region dates back to the 16th century, when there were even two breweries in the city. The history of the brewery in Trnava was marked by the 18th century, when in 1752 the town was granted permission from the royal chamber to build a new brewery, at an old brewery that was no longer sufficient. The first owner of the brewery was Jozef Sessler and his sons, who bought the town brewery, which gradually focused only on malt production. The production of beer was completed in 1867 and the brewery in Trnava also disappeared. The malting plant continued to produce malt and after a number of changes in ownership relations, it is still a significant malt producer in Slovakia. We had to wait for more than 100 years to restore beer production in Trnava and to build a modern brewery.
On June 16, 1971, the foundation stone of the construction of a new modern brewery was laid, which was begun with a production capacity of 350,000 hl of beer per year. On June 4, 1974, the first 250 hl batch of 10% of Trnavan beer was recorded in the history of the Trnava brewery and a month later the brewery was handed over to the test facility as the youngest brewery in Slovakia. Since the brewery's launch, the whole production has been placed under strict regime of raionization, especially in the area of ??Trnava, Záhoria and around Levíc. Trnava's beer was gradually developed for a quality balanced and affordable beer, which was gradually found by its supporters outside the mentioned regions.
In 1990 Trnava brewery produced 8% light beer, 10% light beer, 10% dark beer and 12% dark beer under the brand name Trnavan. In addition, however, the Golden Cane (14% light beer), 12% Export lager, 11% Branch beer, Premium beer Premium and Premium light, and non-alcoholic Pito beer were also marketed. The biggest attraction for customers was 11% Bran? beer at this time. Later, however, interest in light beer and 11% of beer declined and their production was stopped in 1994. A new species was introduced into production, 11.5% of Floren beer. Interest in Trnava was also abroad, and exports to Romania, Poland, Georgia, Lithuania and Moldova, but the activities were, for example, also with China.
Since the end of 1995, Slovmalt s.r.o. becomes the owner of the brewery, later transformed into the Horden joint stock company and since 1996 has taken over the brewery as a successor organization. In 1996, the Trnava brewery was famous for its 10% light beer Grošák in the West Slovakia region, which accounted for 80% of the total beer production. In addition, 11.5% of Floren's light beer, 12% of Sessler's light beer and 10% of Malvin's dark beer were complemented by production output in the assortment. The additional assortment of products was a low-grade 8% Sladar beer. In order to meet the customers, filling and packing of 0.5 and 0.33 liter bottles was secured. The brewery produced 70% of the bottle and 30% of the barrel during this period.
In 1998, the Horden brewery, along with the Sessler malt, took over Esperia. Strong competition in the beer market has forced more attention to the sale of its own production and ensure excellent product quality. The business activities of the company were strengthened, which also helped to consolidate the brand of beer produced and to support customer-focused sales. Beer Horden carries a character of originality and has a special position among alcoholic beverages for its nutritional value and low alcohol content. The modern production, based on experience and knowledge of traditional technologies, puts Horden among high quality Slovak breweries.
